Centennial School Board,

A CHANGE.ORG petition is being circulated.  Please initiate an external independent investigation of the child harassment incidents and the District's actions in its wake.

This call to action deeply touches my family and the Centennial community at large.  My son, along with many others kids with disabilities, lives and learns in this community.   We are currently deeply disturbed by the news reports of student abuse. Even more troubling, our concerns reach beyond the incident itself, encompassing the handling of the situation by the school’s administration. This affects the most vulnerable among us, particularly nonverbal children who rely on our unequivocal dedication to their safety, justice, and future.

In the light of this accusation, we are demanding that Centennial School Board initiate an external investigation of the incident reported and scrutinize the administrative actions taken in its aftermath. It is our belief that this is a crucial step towards unearthing the facts, ensuring justice is served, and setting in place mechanisms to prevent such unfortunate incidents in the future.

The U.S Department of Health and Human Services reports that children with disabilities face an almost two times greater risk of being a victim of maltreatment compared to those without disabilities (2011). This report underscores the importance of upholding the highest standards of safety and dealing with allegations with the utmost seriousness and transparency.

Those who educate and nurture our kids must be held accountable, and the only way to do this is through an impartial and rigorous external investigation. We want answers about: the district's handling of past reports, trainings about reporting procedures, how teacher suspensions are recorded and corrective actions are created, paraprofessional trainings, culture and climate review, among others.

This is about the well-being of our children, the most vulnerable among us, who need us to stand up for justice now more than ever. Please, join us in this important quest for truth and justice, and sign this petition.

Dear Fellow Centennial Special Education Families,

Centennial Special Education Alliance was created to support fellow parents locally.  To connect them to each other for shared experiences and resources.  Our hearts are broken about the current news events from Davis Elementary.

We are creating this page to share the updated news sources and publicly available information.

We would also like to suggest some actionable items for our community.  Please see links below.

Do not stop speaking to each other.  This is our community.  We are entitled to seek truth.  We will let our voices and concerns be heard. We request true transparency.  We expect BEST practices and safety at all times for our kids.

There are families who need our support.  We are a powerful community.  Our kids might have a limited voice.  Ours will not be silenced.  Reach out to each other.

Do not stop advocating for your child.  If you need help, ask in our FB Centennial SEA Family Group, or check out our website for resources.

Much love,

Centennial Special Education Alliance
